Born Padmanabhan Balachandran Nair in Sasthamkotta and living in Vaikom for a long time, P. Balachandran Nair was an artist with extraordinary talent. A prolific writer in drama and cinema, an excellent academic, scenarist, Director, and Actor.
Despite all this, he lived like a perfectly ordinary man in every sense. A perfect contemporary who deeply loved the world around him and interacted with it.

He stepped into the art world through drama. He was not someone who wanted to come to the field of Cinema, however, he loved Movies. Although cinema has earned him a lot of fame and acclaim, he is also an alumnus of the Thrissur School of Drama. He once said that he enjoys every passing moment of his life to the fullest, be it Scriptwriting, Acting, or Teaching.
He was the opinion that When approaching cinema, he was absolutely convinced that it was the art of the director. It has never felt like the medium of an actor or a writer. A Writer is more independent while writing a play, while that is not the case with Cinema he said.

While we audience still have his contributions to cherish, one would wonder if there could have been more that he had planned to enthrall us with his writing and direction. As another light that shone with its creative excellence fades away, we could only pray for his soul to rest in peace and remember his contribution through discussions of Cinema and Playwright.
