An actor par excellence and a Brilliant comedian whose rib-tickling one-liners made us think of the sociopolitical issues prevalent across the country, he was a Singer, Comic, Actor, Social Activist, Environmentalist, and so on, whose sudden demise has caused an irreplaceable void in the Indian Film Industry.
Born Vivekanandan in Kovilpatti, Tamilnadu he was professionally known as Vivek. He was awarded the fourth highest civilian award, Padma Sri in the year 2009 for his contributions to the Arts and Entertainment Industry.
Vivek rose to fame in the 90s as the sidekick of the Movie lead with a separate comedy track in the film to the extent where he would be allotted space in the Movie posters.
He could easily complement the greats of Legends like Rajinikanth, Ajit Kumar, and Vijay at ease adding a special comic effect to blockbuster movies.
In the recent past, Vivek essayed serious roles showing his acting abilities and received praises from the fans and critics alike. He was advised by Director Bala and Kamal Hassan to get into serious roles and it turned out to be great advice for him.
The Actors life is as inspiring as it can get, he helped pioneer stand-up comedy by participating at the Madras Humour Club in his free time. P. R. Govindarajan, Founder of Humour Club, introduced him to film director K Balachandar for the first time and it was the Director who gave him his first break.
Vivek rose to so much fame that, there were numerous attempts to cast him as a lead, however, unfortunately for us none of the films materialized.
Vivek founded the Green Kalam initiative in 2010 with the mission of planting one billion trees across Tamil Nadu inspired by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, It is claimed that he has planted over 33 Lakh saplings.
His sudden demise left the whole country shocked for we believed he had a lot to offer to the world, perhaps he has done his part, his works will inspire generations on and off-screen. Let’s bid adieu to his physical presence and celebrate his contributions.
