Music has always been in Ananya’s genes!! The Indian singer-songwriter started playing the Santoor at the age of 11. Later, during her university days in England, Ananya Birla started singing and playing the guitar at pubs and clubs. Moreover, the Indian artist started writing her own songs during this time. Soon, Universal Music India noticed her song ‘I don’t want to love’ and signed a record deal with Birla.
Ananya Birla’s music career
In 2016 the Indian singer-songwriter released her debut ”Livin’ the Life’ which she co-wrote with JimBeanz. Birla’s debut single topped the Shazam Top 100 India Songs charts. Later, in 2017 the Dutch DJ Afrojack released a remix of this song which has 15 million views on YouTube. Also, the Dutch DJ released the remix through PM: AM recordings making Ananya the first Indian to get a worldwide release through the network. Soon the Indian singer-songwriter released her second single ‘Meant to be’, which was certified Platinum by the Indian Music Industry. Again, she became the first Indian to go Platinum with an English single. Ananya Birla went on to release two singles, ‘Hold On’ and ‘Circles’ in the following year.
The singer-songwriter released her latest single ‘Better’ on January 2019. The song has already recevied 11 million views.
Other initiatives by the Indian singer-songwriter
Apart from her music career, Ananya Birla is socially active and has started various organizations to help the poor and oppressed. ‘Svatantra’ is Birla’s initiative to help women in rural areas to develop their businesses. The artist also launched a mental health organization called MPower along with her mother.
In addition to all these, the Indian singer-songwriter and entrepreneur has also ventured to start a business by the name CuroCarte.
